when upgrading Presario 5000 from ME - XP i had NO luck with HP.com drivers so i got this from ASUS, the maker of the motherboard.

this suits the onboard audio for Presario 5WV491 and probably most other 5000 series with ASUS mobos.

Finally got this piece of junk to work in win95-98! Before running upgrade to directx 8 (available widely). Double click on this file after download to your hard drive- will unpack to a specified directory. Then run the setup program included.

Stability:
'My sound driver somehow got screwed up and NONE of my audio apps (Winamp, Windows Media Player, Real Player) would play and they gave me an error message to re-install my sound card drivers. I downloaded the driver file and ran setup and everything works FINE!!! now on my Windows 98SE machine.'
